First Post!
May. 3rd, 2009 11:20 amFirst off, many thanks and heartfelt gratitude to
order_of_chaos for giving me an invite code so I can participate in online blogging again. I've missed being able to update regularly, and I can only hope DW never comes to the attention of the censors that maintain the Great Firewall.
Let's start this journal with a picture post of the demo from Lin'An. I was picked, along with a fellow teacher, to to a teacher training orientation session in Lin'An, a city three hours out of Shanghai to the southwest (close to Hangzhou). It was a successful demo, and I couldn't have been prouder of how my 'kids' performed. Happy, Hallen and Jerry, three of my top grade 5 students, made quite an impression on everyone. I was most oroud of Jerry who could have easily beaten the grade 8 Lin'An students in our demo games, but chose to be fair. He was clearly (to me anyway) the winner during one round, but he announced that he was out and sat down, giving me a wink only I could see, just so the older students wouldn't lose face or be embarrased by being shown up by a grade 5 student.
( Kids and food pics! )
I have a 15 minute video I need to find some place to upload (it's 918MB) of the kids in the car learning how to sing and act out 'Puff the Magic Dragon' with Paddy but I don't know where to put it (even youtube only allows for 10 mins). Any ideas??
